Backup as a service (BaaS) is one of the fastest-growing data protection markets. This growth is driven by an increase in cloud-related spending, the root of which is more cloud application deployments. In fact, IDC estimates that 80% of new application deployments are in the cloud. BaaS involves a cloud service provider (SP) establishing the backup infrastructure (hardware and software) and supplying the necessary operational support to keep it running.
